Cultivating a Heart of Mercy: Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King:

You probably know Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King as the daughter of Coretta Scott King and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. You may also recognize her as an international orator and speaker, from appearances on CNN and BET, or from magazines such as People and Ebony. Today, Bernice’s work at The King Center and other organizations is transforming future generations to Think, Act, Live, and Lead by the Kingian Nonviolence principles modeled by her parents.

Cultivating A Heart of Mercy is an all-new, 6-day Bible Plan, featuring exclusive video content from the Hard Questions, Heart Answers author. Through a series of inspiring video devotionals, Bernice shows us the relationship between justice and mercy, reveals the source of our power to forgive, and shares how we can redeem our own suffering to serve others.
When you start practicing in this vein — doing justice, and loving mercy — it invites God into the equation and gives Him room to operate.

  1. Thank you Dr.King for sharing the moving of God’s Holy Spirit during your interview with James Roberson. Your honesty about the hate that was in your heart and how people who are brought up surrounded by hate and have no way our really pushed open the door on an old wound. My childhood was less than ideal but not as marred as some.My home was filled with frustration, hate, impatience, rejection, emotional, physical, alcohol and sexual abuse. Indeed, how does one survive that? Psalm 40:2 is my recovery mantra. I love the 1Timothy 1:14 verse your shared in your devotional too, yes, God’s grace has been poured out upon me abundantly! I now am a new creature in Christ. Thank you for being so transparent because it has poured the healing balm of Gilead on my wounds. May Christ Jesus continue to turn your ashes into beauty just as He has mine. Your eternal sister in Christ.
